TOPIC: T-Tunics for beginners

T-Tunics for beginners 2 years, 9 months ago #227

Being fairly new to the SCA myself, I know how eager it is to want to begin making your garb but well if you are like me then you prolly haven't done to much sewing to start with...

The most easy and cheap piece of "garb" you can make is the T-tunic.

With 2-3 yds of fabric or a Queen or King size sheet you can make a tunic in one night from laid out to finished...

Now as a new sewer myself, I am still learning my machine and find that its easier for me to hand sew all my garb (which is also more period) but if in a hurry I will use the machine for raw seams and then finish all the seams with a rolled stitch.

I have found the most easiest pattern to work up your tunic is found here at
]Forward Into the Past

I used the top sheet for my queen size bed...the only thing i didn't like was it was not long enough which meant I had to attached more fabric to the bottom of it to make it longer but with some trim it will be great...Actually this is kinda the tunic I add new stuff too...

And here is also a Man's basic tunic I made from some old curtains...

Thanks! I had some help picking out fabric from a veteran player, so that helped a lot.
