I'm thinking about creating a new group under that tab for feastocratting (cooking and serving both). However, I have to get permission from my fellow "Head Wench" prior to doing this. In the meantime, why don't you "friend" me? I love to cook, try new recipes, etc.

And I have now done so!!! Check out House Padaveja on the groups page! Anybody interested in cooking, feasts, serving, eating, etc is welcome to join!

Kingdom-specific forums would be a nice addition.

SCA members create guild on World of Warcraft
Alastair Ronal Kester Aeyalweard has announced the creation of a guild on World of Warcraft for SCA folk who want to adventure together in cyberspace when they can't be together in person at events. Alastair writes: For those SCAdians of the "WoW Persuasion", we have set up an "SCA Guild" titled "Defenders of the Dream" alliance and horde on the MADORAN Server. Our "Guild Tabard" is the Arms of the SCA. We have a guild bank, and there are several SCAdians [and friends of same] on already. Come Join the fun and fellowship that ONLY the SCA can bring to ANY group be it online or on the field! Server: Madoran Faction: Alliance Faction: Horde Contacts: Message in game Lydyia, Alastyr or Gnyriece or Pridatha - or just look for "Defenders of the Dream" and "Avengers of the Dream" [Horde side] HUZZAH!!! We also recommend the "SCA Friendly" yahoo list [linked below], a great place to meet and share a bit of 'the dream' when you are unable to attend any SCA functions.

You're making it difficult for me to stay away from WoW.

SCA 101.....

As a new member to the SCA it did not take me long to develop "hoof in mouth" disease....

Instead of making friends within our "tiny" little Barony... I have instead pissed most of them off.....

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

With that said.... A simple "Do / Do Not" forum would be truly nice... Someplace where "old timers" can share their "hoof in mouth" experiences.... and to help "newbies" realize that although this "game" is A LOT of fun... it also has its rules and regs....

and Honestly not sure how many of you have actually read the "handbook"..... Way toooooooooooo much for this newbie to digest for sure.....

Re: Welcome Everybody! 2 years, 8 months ago #161

thats actually a goodidea. you could do one under general.

Re: Welcome Everybody! 2 years, 8 months ago #165

It's unfortunate that nobody in your barony chose to share with you the do's an do not's instead of just getting angry. I've been recently reminded this weekend how petty and small minded some people can be. I hope that you don't let that get in the way of your enjoyment of the SCA. I, myself, am struggling with that right now. But a few people, even a whole barony, should not be allowed to outshine the chivalry and courtesy that is the Society.

Re: Welcome Everybody! 2 years, 8 months ago #176

We have since been offered SCA 101 by our former baroness as she is the one to which talked us into joining.... However as she has been rather busy with work and kids... and we have been rather busy with sick kid, sick puppies, etc... time honestly has not allowed for it... I am hoping I can get with her prior to any further major activities....

Honestly there are a few that are keeping us in the game here locally.... They aer the reasons we joined, and are willing to help when asked.... We are not truly inclined to other again as it has been made very clear "newbies" are to sit on the side lines and not jump in with both feet unless asked to do so.. and only then with what they are asked to do.... I know this Barony is NOT the model of the SCA.... As I said before I have played in other places... Just never truly became a "member".... Thus I know how much fun you can actually have when "playing".... You just gotta realize this like any other large group has it's cliques and as such.. certain things are expected... I do not plan on giving up... for I know sooner or later the "controlling" parties are going to get burned out and then it will be the newbies that keep this barony going...

I just had to learn the hard way a few things... and am still learning... isn't that what the SCA is all about... learning, teaching, exchanging.... and have fun while doing so....

Re: Welcome Everybody! 2 years, 8 months ago #179

made up an etiquette thread for you.

Re: Welcome Everybody! 2 years, 8 months ago #187

Mi'lorde....

Thank you so very much... I truly wish to learn... and I honestly feel this is probably the most non-threatening way to learn.... I have been part of many forums in the past and found them to be a vast wealth of knowledge, experience, egos, personal dynamics, etc... I have always enjoyed them... and for the most part came away with long time friends and knowledge base you could only find in libraries prior to the internet...

Thank ALL of you to which had this concept and placed it into forward motion.... May it be of benefit, use, pleasure, etc for all who find it....

Re: Welcome Everybody! 2 years, 8 months ago #190

Ok... I can't seem to find where this belongs.... This is a suggestion I am hoping someone in the higher hierarchy of the SCA can take to the Known World lawyers....

A few months back, we got word there has become an issue with regards to "posting" and "printing" one's picture in regards to SCA activities....

My suggestion is..... As part of the "no harm, no foul" release and waiver blue card holders sign... Why not include this "picture" release as well.... Then when posting, printing, using pictures of individuals, the only ones the SCA would need individual release forms from are non-blue card holders...

I am sure many "Chancellors" (I believe they are called) have access to who are blue card holders and who are not...

Just a suggestion....
