TOPIC: Favorite A&S class/project/activity

Again, to better help me prepare to be an A&S Officer in March I would like to know what is the most interesting part of the SCA A&S wise to you? Did a certain class make an impression on you? Are you now an expert on something that you never thought you would be?

I know of the basics that my shire does, but I am curious to see what the rest of the SCA dabbles with!

Hats. You can never have too many hats. One look at a hat and you can narrow down someones persona much more than any other piece of garb.
It's not the only thing I'm interested in though. I wear many hats, pun intended.

Well, since I hated my junior high school sewing class, I *never* thought I'd be spending most of my weekends sewing for other people, trying to work in time to sew for myself, blogging about sewing, teaching sewing, and spending every free moment researching things related to sewing!

Fun A&S classes that I've been part of usually involved learning someting completely new. For instance we invited a well known talented scribe in our Kingdom to come teach a class on Illumination. I am not an illuminator, but I had a great time listening to him and learning the history behind the craft.

Oh, and there's a point too. A&S shouldn't be (in my opinion) just about learning HOW to do something, but WHY... WHY is it done this way, WHY did they do it this way, etc.

I am a big fan of hats and helms myself!

Illumination also seems really interesting..
