First off sorry if this is the wrong spot.

I wanna make a leather fencing coat with trigger sleaves useing 5 oz leather but i have no clue how to figure out how much leather i would need can anyone help?

If you are making a buff coat, there are commercial patterns. The pattern ought to tell you how much material is required, depending on your size.

At the end of the 16th century firearms made plate armor obsolete. Some protection was still needed against sword cuts, so thick knee length leather coats, worn alone, or with a breast and back plate were introduced. The coats were made from a tan stiff "buffalo" leather. Buffalo were actually some sort of oxen. You can do a web search on buff coats.
